What is a doula?
Your support before, during and after birth
Doula is the Greek word for “serving woman”. The term is becoming increasingly well known, and more and more pregnant women know how to find her for support around the birth of their baby. A doula, or birth coach, informs, supports and guides you in a non-medical way during your pregnancy, the entire delivery and the first period after. Studio Vandaan has in its network some special women who work as doulas and can lovingly support you and/or you together before, during and after childbirth.

Sanne is a mother of two and works as a doula and (birth) photographer. She also regularly writes blogs about pregnancy and birth. During her own pregnancies and deliveries, she noticed how much difference good preparation for and fine support during birth can make. Sanne wishes everyone such a good start to parenthood.
Her mission as a doula is that you go into labor well prepared and with confidence, and that afterwards you can look back with a good feeling. After all, you won’t forget the birth of your child(ren) for the rest of your life. Sanne sees childbirth as the ultimate opportunity to feel at your strongest. And because Sanne is also a photographer, she may be able to capture the arrival of your baby for you in unforgettable images.
During a doula session, Sanne will work with you (and your (birth) partner, if applicable) to see where she can offer you support. This support is completely tailored to your wishes and situation. Together with you she will prepare for the birth, help you explore your wishes and give you tools to help you relax more easily and to ease the birth process. And when the birth arrives, she is there for you completely: until the moment your baby is lying comfortably in your arms.
