Breech Baby Session

How to help your baby turn naturally

Although a natural birth of a breech baby can also be a possibility, the position where the baby’s head is down is the most optimal position for a natural birth. Why babies sometimes breech is not always known, but there are ways to help your baby turn. While there are no guarantees, of course, Spinning Babies is definitely worth a try!

What can you do yourself in the event of a breech position?

Our lifestyle and daily habits (how we sit, stand, walk, sleep and even how we cycle) during pregnancy can greatly affect the baby’s ability to find the optimal position for delivery in the womb. In our modern society, we have a rather static and often asymmetrical lifestyle. We sit a lot in the car or train or on an office chair, hang out on the couch, stand with one foot on the bike pedal at a red light, carry a shoulder bag on one shoulder or stand still while “hanging in” a hip.

In short; we often use our bodies asymmetrically and spend excessive time in one and the same posture. Moreover, we sometimes experience stress and tension and social pressure on us is quite high. All these types of factors can cause our bodies to become unbalanced. We may exercise, but we are more likely to choose a “work out” instead of choosing body work that focuses on a “work in” and thus on relaxation and flexibility. As a result, our bodies are often tense, even during pregnancy. The muscles and joints in the body are too tight and partly because of this, sometimes babies simply don’t have enough room to use gravity and lie with their heads down.

What does the breech presentation session involve?

The good news is: you can often do something yourself in breech presentation! The sooner the better, but it’s never too late to try! Our session is based on the Spinning Babies – technique.

In this 1,5-hour breech baby session, you will learn all about a breech birth and how you could influence your baby’s position yourself. In the session, our experienced teacher will explain and show you how you can work with your own body and how a properly aligned and balanced body could help your baby make the turn himself.

Together we practice gentle postures and techniques that you can also apply at home. Our approach is customized and based on where you are in your pregnancy. We adapt the Spinning Babies techniques, sequences and exercises to your body and needs and give advice on how often and when to apply them so that you feel supported and confident to continue practicing it at home, possibly with your partner.

Booking You can book the breech session through e-mail. We will then put you in touch with the teacher and so you can coordinate together for an appointment.

Who is the session for?

The breech baby session is suitable for any expectant mother in the last weeks of her pregnancy whose baby is transverse or breech (with the buttocks down instead of the head) between 26-40 weeks of pregnancy.

What did they find?

“I was expecting more physical excercises and less information, but

I was positively surprised with the information and clear explanation.

Also I felt reassured by Alise. She gave me more trust in my body and the natural way things will happen. The exercises were clear to me after the session. I’ve been focussing more on my lifestyle (walking, sitting) since the session. I especially appreciated the time and patience Alise showed.

“I did the breech baby session with Alise and it was very relaxing, interesting and helpful.

I learned a lot and I was very lucky that my baby turned the same day into the right position.

Alise has a kind and warm personality and is also very professional. I would highly recommend doing the breech baby session.

Anjo

“At 34 weeks pregnant, my baby was in breech position. I had already started moxa therapy and wanted additional information about breech presentation and additional exercises to encourage the baby to turn over.

Alise was very patient and helpful. She gave me a lot of information, and helped me with the different exercises. Alise is very approachable and engaging even after this session.

Just doing these (relaxation) exercises regularly give me a lot of peace of mind, and even if the baby does not turn in head position, I now have much more confidence that she will come into the world well and healthy.”

Vera

“I found the breech session to be good and informative.

Alise explained the most important Spinning Babies postures to me in a short time and together we practiced them while she gave me tips on how to apply them most conveniently at home. The breech session gave me the feeling that I could influence the turning of my baby myself. When my baby still hadn’t turned a few weeks later, Alise gave me more tips on how to use the moxa and where to get it.

Unfortunately, an external version was ultimately necessary, but for my own peace of mind, having done exercises and the moxa was really nice to feel like I had done everything I could do on my own.

Alise is a dedicated and involved teacher who explains well and stayed involved and thought with me several times after the session as well.”
